Tsunami


  



Terminology
Tsunami (Japanese language; tsu = port, name =wave, which means large wave at port) is the movement of water body cause by the change of the sea surface vertically unexpectedly. Tsunami often happens in Japan. The Japan  history noted at least 196 tsunami has happened in Japan. In the past time some people said that tsunami was the same as the tide wave.  Nowadays it’s not anymore. Some researchers said that there is no relation between tsunami and and the tide wave. Tsunami and the tide wave result the water wave moving to the land. In the tsunami condition, the wave movement is much bigger and longer.
The Cause of Tsunami
            There are several causes of tsunami, namely the explosion of volcano, earthquake, landslide, or meteor falling on the earth. But, 90% tsunami is caused by the earthquake under the sea. Some tsunamis were caused by the volcano explosion, for example Krakatau mountain. The vertical movement on the earth’s crust can effect the bottom of the sea to go up and down suddenly, which causes the clisturbance of the water belance on it. The causes the happen of the energy stream of the sea water. When it arrives on the beach, it becomes the large wave which causes tsunami.
The Negative Effects of Tsunami
            Tsunami has negative effects for everything. It can damage anything passed by, such as houses, buildings, plants, bridges, roads, streets, etc. It can also take many victims of people and animals. Besides the people who are still alive may get the bad mental stress.
